RPAT includes the household synthesizer that is used in GreenSTEP. It is documented in the SHRP 2 C16 final report (http://onlinepubs.trb.org/onlinepubs/shrp2/SHRP2_S2-C16-RR-1.pdf, pp. 119-120). The base year and future year household synthesis results are included in two Rdata files in the outputs folder for each scenario, called HsldXXXX.Rdata and HsldYYYY.Rdata where XXXX and YYYY are base and future years respectively. The household synthesis results are then added into the SynPop.. data.frame and the additional simulation fields are added to each household through the course of the model run.
In the [scenario name]/outputs/TypeFLFSYP folder (where TypeFLFSYP means Future Land Use, Future Supply, Yes Policies applied, the FLFSYP.RData file contains the SynPop.. R data.frame that holds the simulation results for each household in the region. The first six fields of the SynPop.. data.frame indicate the number of household members in each of the 6 age group categories that RPAT uses. Additional household characteristics are included in the subsequent fields, including household size (Hhsize), number of household members of driving age(DrvAgePop), household characteristic flags (OnlyElderly, Children, Singleton, CoupleNoKids), and household income (Hhincttl, IncGrp).
The following lines of R code can be used to load the SynPop.. data.frame from the Rdata file and summarize the synthetic household population:
# Load the FLFSYP.RData file (update path if required for your installation)
load("C:/RPAT/projects/project/Base/outputs/TypeFLFSYP/FLFSYP.RData")
# Inspect the SynPop.. table
head(SynPop..)
# Summarize the hh syn
table(SynPop..$Hhsize)
hist(SynPop..$Hhsize,breaks=0:max(SynPop..$Hhsize))
table(SynPop..$DrvAgePop) hist(SynPop..$DrvAgePop,breaks=-1:max(SynPop..$DrvAgePop))
colSums(SynPop..[,c("OnlyElderly", "Children", "Singleton", "CoupleNoKids")])
hist(SynPop..$Hhincttl)
table(SynPop..$IncGrp)
